Water baptism
When I ask people, "are they Christian?" I am amazed when I ask them this question. Most of the people I knew would told me that they had not been baptised yet. I do not understand what they are trying to say. To be honest, they never give me the answer. All they gave was they had not been baptized yet. So is a person a Christian if they are not baptized?
Well my answer would be yes, you are a Christian, whether you are baptized or not baptized. Reason being is because a Christian accepted the Lord as their Lord and Savior, by faith confess from their mouth and believe in their heart. Christianity is not about action and working hard to get the trust from the Lord Jesus Christ. God had already knew who we were when we were not even born. You may find this verse in Jeremiah 1:5.
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.” (NKJV)
We are all children of God even before we were born. God had created us that way. It is just us and us alone, who changed the whole scenario. When God welcome us into this world, He welcome us with an open hand, inviting us to be with Him. That is why He never force us to believe in Him. What we as human being as the matter of fact, was the opposite of Him. We shied away from Him. We go another way round. We were scared to confess that we are Christian but use water baptism as a tool to tell the world we need to be baptized first to become Christian.
What I am trying to say here is we are Christian the moment we confessed with our mouth and believe in our heart that Jesus is our Lord and Savior. We do not need to do anything to seek Him. We only tell the world that we are Christian through water baptism. Of course water baptism is important but it is not as important as our confession of sins in our heart and that only Jesus Christ is our Savior. For that confession itself, we chose Jesus as our Lord and Savior. Therefore do not be hesitate whenever people ask you whether you are a Christian or not because the moment you confess your sin you are a Christian and no work, not even water baptism should hinder you from confessing yourself a believer of Christ.
