Walking With Jesus!!

It is not easy to walk with Jesus and yet a lot of Christians wanted to walk right with Jesus.. Therefore I really want to blog all my walks so that I can remember all the walks that I have had with Jesus and to rely on Him and allow Him to carry me when I couldn't walk right with Him anymore.

Obey our parent no matter what happen

Have you ever encountered this phrase before? "Come on, you are a big boy or girl now. Still have to live under your parent's direction?" Is this a common sentences that you get when you tell your beloved colleagues, friends or even relatives your parent did not allow you to do a certain things in life?

I am sure you all have, haven't you? Well I guess that it is so common here in Asia countries and perhaps in some western countries too, am I right? Well as for me, I would like to think of it as my life principle. Call me a traditional guy but hey, in everything I do, they are the one who give birth to me, they are the who feed me well to make the healthy me now, they are the one who actually educate me until I am this intelligent or wise. Perhaps I am not as wise and intelligent as everyone else but I do believe that I am wise enough to do I want to do in how to survive in this dog eats dog world.

Anyway my life principle to my parent is despite all the wrong my parent might do, I do not like to think them as my opposition. I would still listen to them whenever they had make up a decision. I do not like the belief that I do things without my parent's blessings. Even marriage. I would rather not do a certain thing until they approve of what I am about to do. I do believe that God gave them wisdom and knowledge in dealing with people like me when we were young. Do you know that you and me were young, we were hard to please type of child? I know I do. I am not an easy pleasing guy. I do not live to please others but myself a lot of time. Even until now. I would argue with my parent to get things my way. But when they strictly said no to anything they displeased with me, I would obediently obey. And I guess this is very important. If parent loses their authority on us, we will lose blessings from God because we choose to rebel and not obey. In the Bible, it is written in Ephesians 6: 1-3.

1 Children, obey your parents because you belong to the Lord,[a] for this is the right thing to do. 2 “Honor your father and mother.” This is the first commandment with a promise: 3 If you honor your father and mother, “things will go well for you, and you will have a long life, full of blessing. (NLT)” [b]

It was written by Paul. Remember what Paul wrote in verse 1, the part [a]. "you belong to the Lord". Remember that we are all belonging to God and God alone. So when we all belongs to God, we do God's will and getting our parent's approval in decision making even a wrong decision is part of God's will for us. Well that is what I believe in. That for me is a statement of making decision. If you make decision to obey your parent in everything that you do even the foolish one, you belong to the Lord.

Then in part [b], because you did what you did to honor your parent, you will receive a reward. The reward is a long life, which is full of blessings. It is not written what type of blessing we will receive but I do believe it would be a blessings where even our pastors could not even comprehend because the blessing belongs to the Lord. It was with our Lord Jesus' generosity who will bless us but it would be in full term.

So imagine this. If people were to tell you that you are big boy or girl and who still listens to your parent and they called you a fool, remember this. They are more foolish than you because they do not know what is the outcome when a person obey. They only know the short term of blessing and that is they could get away with their parent's (perhaps) traditional direction. But what they do not know is that if they obey they can be sure of a long term blessing from God. Perhaps not directly bur still a blessing to come. Isn't that what we as Christians want? Or perhaps the non-Christian as well? Blessing from the Almighty above.

But bear in mind, we are seeking the Blesser and not just the blessing itself only. So let us obey our parent and God in the manner where God is everything and what we want from life is to live the way our parent is please with us. If our parent are not a wise decision maker, well pray that they would be. Or at least discuss with them why they choose the decision and not your decision. I am sure something good would turn out well because our God is a Good and Loving God. Amen.. =)
